NATSPEC NCPR Product Conformity Guide

NATSPEC NCPR Product Conformity Guide: A DesignBUILD Partnership

In 2020, DesignBUILD are proud to be partnering with the NATSPEC’s National Construction Product Register (NCPR). For a reduced price of $450 + GST, all exhibitors at DesignBUILD can receive one set of the NCPR Product Conformity Guide, including a customised product conformity requirement table, one product listing onto the NCPR register if the product satisfies the NCPR requirements. Registration demonstrates to the visitors that the products have authentic evidence of conformity to the relevant Australian and/or international standards; it is a great way to increase the market reach of your brand and company in the industry.

Who is NATSPEC?

NATSPEC is a not-for-profit organisation owned by Government and industry whose objective is to improve the construction quality and productivity of the built environment through leadership of information.

What is the National Construction Product Register (NCPR)?

The National Construction Product Register (NCPR) is a centralised online database of construction products which have evidence of conformity independently authenticated by NATSPEC. The NCPR is freely available for all building practitioners. In its infancy, it has received feedback and gained support from organisations including: Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) , Australian Institute of Building (AIB), Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS), Master Builders Association (WA), Association of Consulting Architects Australia (ACA), Consult Australia (CA), and the Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV).

What is the NCPR Product Conformity Guide (the Guide)?

The Guide is an overarching education program for you to learn, achieve and demonstrate product conformance on the NCPR. Customised for your product type, the Guide is comprised of:

  • General Learning: Introduction to Australian Product Conformity

This section will give you sufficient knowledge in regards to regulatory and voluntary product conformity requirements. (Delivery method TBC)

  • Standard Specific Learning: Product Conformity Requirement Table

The Table will be tailored for each supplier’s nominated product group(s). It is based on NATSPEC’s National Classification System. It points suppliers to the important conformity requirements cited in NATSPEC for a specific application in a construction project.

Upon successful completion of the conformity assessments outlined in the Table, or if you already have any alternative standards accepted by NATSPEC, you can participate in the NCPR listing. Note, the NCPR Product Conformity Requirement Table is NOT always a prerequisite for the NCPR listing.

How much does it cost?

Whilst a listing in the National Construction Product Register (NCPR) is not a mandatory requirement in order to exhibit, we highly recommend that you use this program to demonstrate product conformity to the visitors. When you complete your company profile and product information in the next step, the NCPR project team will confirm with you the relevant services and cost.
